AMC Medawisla Lodge in Maine is an outstanding vacation spot for hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and star gazing.

Thank you AMC for providing us with such a beautiful area. The wildlife I saw while I was there was spectacular. The highlight was seeing a mink, though I did see plenty of birds of prey, woodland birds and water foul. I loved listening to the loons howling at night. Every fox a deer I viewed seemed very healthy. Finally the trout fishing was amazing.

Easiest section by far of the Appalachian trail in Maine. The most tree blow downs as well though as of 6/1/2017.

Only a great and loving power greater than man could create such beauty

We visited recently to hike the Gulf Hagas Trail as well as trails near the Gorman Chairback Lodge. The Gulf Hagas Trail offers some scenic waterfall views. We hiked from the top towards the bottom of the trail so that we didn't have to hike in the water. We visited Stair Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Billings Falls and The Jaws. The hike has rocks and lots of tree roots. Hiking poles are recommended. The hike winds through fir, balsam, birch, and maple forest. It is pretty.
