Tips:
I cannot say enough good things about Shaw's. Must stay for any hiker. Poet and Hippie Chick are the best. The breakfast is so delicious and the blueberry pancakes are all you can eat!
Stayed there in July of 2017 after a SOBO hike through the wilderness. Poet, Hippie Chick, and the rest of the crew did a great job providing a clean, comfortable place for us to rest and resupply.
Great hostel. Very clean. The breakfast is wonderful and worth sighing up for. The staff were great. I have nothing bad to say at all. I had a fantastic stay.

Super clean and comfortable, Super HOT showers. The breakfast is not included but its a must. Highly recommended.
- Sign up for breakfast. It's a steal... potatoes, eggs, bacon, pancakes, OJ, and gallons of coffee.
- Check out the pack selection while you're there. We snagged a great ULA pack at a really good price from someone who knows how to fit them.
- Sit down one on one with Poet and do a pack shakedown. He helped my son drop his dry weight to under 19 lbs without sacrificing anything he really needed.
It's obvious that Poet does this for the love of it. He's really in his element when it comes to helping people get acclimated to the trail, going out of his way to help set us up for the rest of the hike. For example, he gave up an hour of his evening to shuttle us into town to snag some new trail runners to replace my son's badly fitting boots.
